A few updates from my desk, in no particular order...

July Board Meeting

In addition to the usual committee reports, the Board is expected to consider the following matters:

  • The Finance Committee will present the proposed annual budget for 2026-2027.

  • The Finance Committee will present a request for office technology equipment, including server equipment and a remote deposit scanner.

  • The Board may discuss a proposed policy governing alcohol possession and consumption in common areas.

  • The Maintenance Committee may discuss a project to address surface-water runoff.

  • The Board is also scheduled to conduct two member hearings.

Games of Skill

Pennsylvania lawmakers are considering legislation that would establish licensing and regulatory requirements for the games of skill machines currently located in the Rec Hall. No final law has been passed. Based on current estimates, the legislation could generate as much as $420 million annually for the Commonwealth.

Based on the legislation currently under consideration, organizations such as SRCA may be eligible to operate the machines if they satisfy the proposed licensing, location, security, age, and operating requirements.

If the legislation passes, it could affect the number and placement of the machines, require state licensing, and change the amount of revenue SRCA receives from them.

The Board will continue to monitor the issue and keep members informed as more information becomes available.

Election Packets Now Available

Serving on the Board of Directors is an opportunity to help guide decisions that affect all members, including campground operations, finances, rules, maintenance, safety, and long-term planning. A strong Board depends on members who are willing to get involved, listen to others, work together, and make decisions for the benefit of the entire campground community.

Election packets are now available for members interested in running for the SRCA Board of Directors. Completed packets must be returned to the office by Friday, July 24. The election packet is attached to this newsletter email and is also available from the office.

Planning to Sell Your Membership?

The Membership Committee's hosting program pairs current members with prospective members, giving them an opportunity to tour the campground, learn about our facilities, and view memberships and trailers currently offered for sale by members.

Through this program, our hosts have identified several ways to assist members by providing general information about pricing, listing, and presenting their memberships for sale. To help, the Committee has prepared a brief Planning to Sell Your Membership handout containing practical tips and suggestions.

A copy is attached to this newsletter email. Printed copies are also available at the office.

As always, thank you to the members and volunteers who contribute their time and ideas to the campground.

Respectfully submitted,

Jim McClintock, President
